Getting here
Reaching Surge Narrows is part of the experience — by boat or floatplane.
Surge Narrows is located on Read Island in the Discovery Islands of British Columbia, between Quadra Island and Maurelle Island.

It is a remote coastal community shaped by water access, forested terrain, and the daily movement of the tides.
Reaching Surge Narrows is part of the experience — a gradual shift away from roads and schedules, toward water, weather, and rhythm.
Ways to arrive
Most visitors reach Surge Narrows by combining road travel, ferry crossings, and boat through the Discovery Islands.
The journey typically begins in Campbell River, followed by the ferry to Quadra Island, a drive to Hoskyn Landing, and then a short 5-minute boat ride to the Surge Narrows dock. It's also possible to boat from Campbell River to Surge Narrows -- it is about a 1 hour ride by boat. Either way you go, crossing moves you farther from highways and closer to water, forest, and tide.

Schedules change seasonally and can be affected by weather. Allowing extra time — and embracing a slower pace — makes the journey far more enjoyable.
