Surge Narrows
A coastal passage shaped by forest, current, and time.
Surge Narrows lies in the heart of the Discovery Islands, where narrow channels funnel the ocean’s tides between forested shores.
Twice each day, water surges through with force and precision — shaping reefs, carving shoreline, and setting the rhythm for life here.

This is a place defined by movement and pause.
By tide and slack water. Rain and cedar. Quiet observation.

The Narrows
At the center of this place are the currents themselves.
The channels between Quadra, Read, and Maurelle Islands carry powerful tidal flows — fast, precise, and constantly changing. Twice each day, ocean water surges through the narrows, shaping reefs, carving shoreline, and setting the rhythm for life here.
At slack tide, the water stills.
The surface softens. Patterns emerge. The land reveals itself again — quiet, reflective, and momentarily at rest.

Explore the Forest
Forest and Trail
The forest here is dense and deeply rooted — cedar, hemlock, fir, and moss layered over generations.
Ferns blanket the ground. Branches carry lichen and rain.
Short trails and quiet paths wind through the trees, offering moments of stillness between shoreline and forest edge.
This is not a place of crowds or clearings — but of depth, shade, and slow discovery.

Life in the Water
The same currents that define Surge Narrows also sustain it.
Intertidal reefs, kelp beds, and submerged channels support sea stars, anemones, urchins, and fish moving with the tide.
Seals surface quietly. Birds follow the flow.
At times, larger visitors pass through — guided by the same underwater paths.
Life here moves with the water.
Surge Narrows is more than geography.
It is a small coastal community shaped by weather, access, and shared respect for land and sea.

Long before charts and maps, these waters were known and navigated.
Today, care for this place continues — through stewardship, restraint, and living in rhythm with the tide.
